OPEN CALL fOR DANCERS
Surrealistic love story accompanied with jazz compositions by Duke Ellington.
The performance was inspired by the novel by Boris Vian, L’Écume des jours, written in 1947. The abstract language of the book was be translated into the choreography for four dancers and one musician.
The idea was to create a dance performance inspired by the novel, with live jazz music played by the musician (or band) on stage.
The abstract language of the book will be translated into the choreography for four dancers and transmitted through colorful, bizarre costumes and scenography.
The premiere was on 15th December 2018 in Águeda, in the frame of Christmas program organized by Projecto AgitLab with support from Câmara Municipal.
The rehearsals period started on 3rd December and ended with the premiere on 15th December. During this period the artists stayed in the residence in Alta Villa in Agueda, where they were provided accommodation and meals.
The rehearsals were planned in the average amount 8h/day with one day of break. The dancers had full access to the training studio during all the residence period, as well as to the other living and working spaces of Projecto AgitLab.
